topic Move sketches in design tree? in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

Hello -

First, I always use the non-history based design approach to my designs. Makes my work easier and faster.

I use many sketches in my individual designs and frequently have to scroll through the design tree to find them all stacked together in the 'Sketches' folder. I would greatly appreciate the ability to grab and drag sketches into an self organized grouping to help with efficiency.

2 questions:

1. Why are the sketches locked in the list order of their creation if there is no history dependency?

2. Is there a simple work-around for this?

Thanks for your time!

Are you familiar with Fusion 360 R.U.L.E #1 & 2 ?

It is usually helpful to organize discrete parts of a design into components.

That is basically how all current parametric design software works.

Although if you are working in direct modeling mode (no timeline) the component based approach is still valid.

" Why are the sketches locked in the list order of their creation if there is no history dependency? Why are the sketches locked in the list order of their creation if there is no history dependency?"

The answer is pretty much what you would expect it to be: Fusion does not save the browser order of sketches in its persistent data. Without that data, the only order to display them at model open time, then, is creation order. Could this data be added? Of course. But, if you are looking for the "why?", that is all it is.

Will it be changed? I suspect that this is fairly low priority, to be honest.
