Edit polygon

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to edit a polygon in a Sketch.

The shape show a "polygon constraint" but it looks like it's not editable...
It should be valuable to be able to modify the face count after validation...

the answer is no. Polygon in sketch is a creation tool only. You cannot modify the number of sides of a polygon after it has been created. You can change the size, via the dimension, but not the side count.

What is your true Design Intent?

In the past I have posted a fully parametric solution using Feature Pattern rather than Sketch Polygon.

Here's one way to get an editable polygon (see attached). You can choose between inscribed or circumscribed by swapping the driving/driven diameter dimensions. It might be a workaround until AD give us an editable polygon. The number of sides is set by a user parameter.

But to be complete, I don't understand why there is a "Polygon" constraint and not the possibility to change the edge number...

the simple answer? Just not enough time or resources (or demand, TBH). We have to make tradeoff decisions all the time, because there are just not enough resources to do everything that everyone wants. In this particular case, there just has not been enough requests for this to justify a fairly big development effort. Would you prefer that there not be a polygon command at all if it cannot be edited? I know I would not. So, yes, it would be better if you could edit the number of sides of a polygon. But, what would you give up to get that? Sorry if this sounds defensive, it probably is. I wish we could implement every request like this.

Hi Monsieur Jean-Michel LE GOFF,

While you are waiting until the precious resources of TF360 are available to finish the development of the polygon object in the F360 sketch environment ( the current one is still an outstanding achievement ), consider the stop-gap solution presented in the attached file. It offers the creation method of subscribed and inscribed polygons based on two user parameters: numberOfSides and scribedRadius, (or just by raw editing the respective sketch pattern constraints icon).
