Draw Sketch Line on Face Perpendicular to Sketch Plane

I am a novice hobbyist and have learned Fusion360 by doing and looking things up. I've learned a good deal, but I cannot seem to find or figure out how to draw a sketch line on a face that is perpendicular to the sketch plane. In the attached image, the bottom blue line protrudes through the wall of the body perpendicular to the sketch plane. The blue vertical line is the one that I would like to have on the face of the body. I can't seem to figure out how to add a point or construction plane that is tangent to the face at that protruding line, or move the vertical line to the face. I couldn't get projections to work the way I needed either.

The only work around I have found is to extend a line from the very top-left of the sketch out to the top edge of the left face, then draw a line down from that point to the bottom line that protrudes through the face. While this works for me in this particular situation, I don't think it will work in all cases. I would like to know the correct procedure to follow to accomplish this sketch line being on the perpendicular face in the future.

Your requirements suggests you are looking for a 3D Sketch. Take a look at the video and see what you think.

@jhackney1972 I already have 3D Sketch turned on and it doesn't work the way I need it to.

In your example, you are sketching out perpendicular to the sketch plane. In my case, I am not trying to place a line perpendicular to the sketch plane, it is still level to the sketch plane. The issue is I cannot get the sketch plane and the outside face of the body to intersect in a way that lets me place a line at that intersection. Or perhaps it is because the sketch plane does not extend beyond the inner face? Is there a way to extend the sketch plane? Adding an offset construction plane from the sketch at 0mm offset doesn't seem to help my issue.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

You can sketch a line virtually any desired location in 3D space.

Your working too hard. 3d sketches are not recommended. They don’t have all the 2d sketch tools.

Edit the internal face sketch.

Project > Project Intersect, the face you want the line on. It turns red in preview and purple when done.

If you are going to work on that left hand face with the line, then don’t do my last suggestion, sketch on that face and hide the inside face sketch then Project > Project the inside face.

Sketching and Projections are bread and butter in Fusion, when you understand the first 2 Project tools in the menu, your Fusion experience will be much better.

@davebYYPCU I don't know how many times I tried projections and what combinations I did, but the first suggestion you had did EXACTLY what I've been trying to do for hours! I can't believe it was that easy and I somehow missed it. Thank you!
