I have 3 components with faces in line sa shown by the blue faces.

I'm trying to lay them flat using joints, so i can laser cut them.

I can do this for each of the three components, but when I try an wrap these three components into a parent component, then try and lay them flat, it doesn't work.

I want to lay them flat maintaining the relationship between them unchanged.

What am i doing wrong?

Huh?

Why bother, you have them aligned, and in position as is.

Create Sketch on the blue face, Project all three bodies to the sketch, save the Sketch as dxf.

Import the dxf to laser software.

If using Fusion Cam, then disregard, my comments.

Same thing, Project all bodies to the sketch,

Edit the DXF, and manoeuvre subsets as required,

You didn’t say if you want the dxf or not.

Fusion CAM, you need all bodies as Components, I was going to suggest, Arrange command but you want them in position groups, again all bets off.

Might help...

Using the Align tool and then creating a Rigid Group is one method. You can also use the Planar Joint but that takes a lot more time. I was not sure what the large block was for but I used it to demo the Planar Joint

<video-js data-video-id="6323386410112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

Maybe the "Manufacturing model" feature is what you need. You can lay down flat your components and nest them on the table, and this will not affect the original model.
