combining 2 components

I can open two separate files in Fusion 360 and they show on the tabs.

How do I get them to both be on the same screen so that I can create a joint between them.

One is an internal gear and the second is a spur gear

you need to create a 3rd design (think of it as an assembly). Insert both into the assembly, and create your joints in that top-level design.

By insert, do you mean Open?

Hi,

1. create a new design and save it

2. insert your designs from datapanel

Success. I now have both items in the same project.

My next thing is to test the gear fit.

I guess I will have to create a base for them to rotate on with pins.
