Configuration table order changes for unknown reason

Hi all,

In my configured designs, the order of my configurations changes every now and then. This happens with almost all my files, but I have not been able to point to a specific moment. For example, I created the following configurations

Config 1

Config 2

Config 3

Config 4

Then, after a while, the rows of configurations looks like this

Config 3

Config 4

Config 2

The Default configuration will always stays where it was, but the others seem to me randomly swapped. I have many configurations with a complex naming system, so its impossible to find the right one when shuffled. I know there's a search bar, but this is not available when you do nested configurations (which I do all the time).

Has anybody else experienced this issue?

Can you give us a bit more context about this problem? I take it that you save your Configured Design, close it and when you reopen it later on you see the rows have moved around? Did you rename rows, deleted rows and undo, etc? We have not encountered this problem before. We understand it is not good for rows to move around randomly and we would like to fix this issue. Any extra details you can give could help us.

Thank you for the quick reply. I went back in the version history two files, and found the moment where the change happened. I cannot simply restore these versions, because weeks of work would be lost.

I can give you access to the files privately if that would help. I cannot see any major changes between the versions other than the order of the configurations changing.

@gautham_kattethota I just had another instance of this issue occuring. Also, quite a few configurations where deleted, and one "Configuration 6" was added. In the screenshot below you can see the configuration dropdowns before (v94) and after (v95).

I noticed the configuration table of the corrupted version (v95) looks very different than the one thats still in tact.

Now that I look at this table again, this configuration table belongs to a whole other file that I have been working on. Somehow the file appears to load a configuration table that does not belong to this file.

In the browers and timeline everything looks just fine, see image above.

It is really strange that at a particular version of the CD, it starts pointing to another table. Did you copy this CD at this point? We might want to take a look at your files and request access. I will get back to you on this.

Hello Gautham,

The configured design was not copied at this time. However, the file originally was part of a bigger assembly, but it was split up in multiple separate configured files because of performace issues with the larger file.

Maybe the files are somehow still connected?

Hi @Mublio, if possible, could you please invite liang.gu@autodesk.com and yongting.zeng@autodesk.com to your hub? From v94 to v95, do you remember if you clicked Undo/Redo after deleting a configuration, or renamed configurations?

I am able to reproduce the first issue about order of configurations.
Performed following scenarios multiple times, where rename of rows, sorting rows, save and reopen of file is involved.

". Can you elaborate on how you went about the process of breaking up a larger CD into smaller ones?

Is it possible for you to give me the access of your datasets? wants to dig in more! While reproducing this issue the factors which I considered seems to be not working for me now, and unable to reproduce it on simple data sets. It will be good If I re-investigate and dig in more on this.

Hello @gautham_kattethota, of course. First, we tried to design our whole cabinet system in one configured file. The file structure looked like this:

Cabinet assembly
- Frame
- Drawer
- Door
- etc.

Because we needed to have many configurations, this appraoch made the file incredibly slow. So we had to take another approach. We duplicated the "Cabinet assembly" file, and edited them so that each contained just one sub assembly (eg, Frame, Drawer, Door).

We now link those separate configured files into one assembly file.

I just had the same issue with another file, bit this time all the configurations disappeared including the default one (which is impossible to do manually).

What is truely worrying for me is that the problem persists even when I restore an older version. It appears like all the configuration data is just gone. This file is also derived from the original "Cabinet assembly" and edited like I described above.

I really hope you find the source for this behaviour, because I desparately need to use these files for our projects. Right now it is impossible to design any of our cabinets.

This is troubling. Did you clear the cache? Sometimes it does help to fix up issues.

Thanks for the quick response. I am familiar with the clear cache trick, but forgot to try it this time. A combination of Clear Cache + restoring an older version did the trick for this particular file. Thank you.

This table corruption is really disturbing!
I just wanted to know few things. Before this table corruption has happened may I know like which exact steps you performed? like Rename of rows, or sorting of rows? or any crash?

Some how I also ended up once with this table corruption on the previous dataset which you had shared earlier, where rows got deleted, but it was after the following scenario =>
1) Renamed multiple rows

2)Then performed sorting and after sorting it got crash

3) After reopening the file , renamed rows were deleted from table

I know we have a call scheduled for the same today, but it will help me to understand better.
