Trying to loft an aircraft canopy it's doing something weird

Trying something (that I thought would be) simple. I tried the first section and it lofted well (mostly) but in the lower rear corner the loft stopped following the side rail and went up 45°to a line on the aft profile that I never put there, it didn't show before I lofted it. Now if I try to loft the next section it says the rail isn't touching the profile. I can't figure out A) where that line came from and B) how to fix it.

P.S. Please don't bother telling me I'm making noob mistakes. I didn't post on here to be called that, I came here to learn and correct what I did wrong.

I like noobies, they can get Fusion to do stuff we would never think of trying.

Congratulations, with your first Loft,

I would not have thought it possible, but it works (to a degree) the small triangle error - no idea, but as the selections are so unusual, I would be thankful for any Loft.

The Second Loft fails outright because the lower rail did not connect to my profile, (not your fault) I set my Loft up as experienced peeps would do it and then found your rail construction was not suitable. Surface Loft and predictable selections did not fail.

That said, we build from outside > in - in fusion, inside > out in the workshop.

That means we build the fuse skins before the formers, because the formers can be extracted from smooth outside skins.

Building off formers is likely to bring not smooth skins and bumby short sections, like you have already.

You have an offer to go step by step. that said, (JD) your canvass for top view is in misalignment. Trailing edge of the rudder is not lined up.

solid loft requires a closed profile, a surface, or a singular point as profile inputs. not body edges or sketch lines that that don't form closed profiles. and it wants to form a solid, not a surface from those input profiles

in your loft, for both profiles you've selected the thin surface going around the edge of the sold body your using for your profiles-

Yep and if I tried that, there would be yellow self Intersect failures everywhere.

OK, let's get started.

Are you on Mac or are you on Windows OS?

Your first Canvas image is not aligned with the origin.

Although not strictly necessary - to avoid confusion I would erase extraneous stuff from the image in an image editing software...

Actually, we are going to split this up into several different images - so you will need to learn to use the Crop tool in your image editing software and make sure you keep a back-up before editing anything...

I am using Windows Paint. I assume Mac has something similar...

I stepped back in history and sketched a horizontal line.

Note that your canvas is not lined up with the line.

First step will be to get this image properly aligned and calibrated.

(Doesn't have to be perfect - but we can certainly get much closer than it is now.)

I added a couple of vertical lines to my horizontal line to help visually line up the canvas...

Notice that I am still a bit off...

Post back with questions if you do not know how to do that.

Attach your new file here for next set of steps...

The next step will make things significantly easier.

I did it once quick and dirty, just to show how I would do it.

Here you have to limit yourself to the basic body. Create the channel separately.

The most important thing is the rails. The profiles are fitted into these rails. That means, the profiles are only used for orientation. So don't move solids, move profiles. And of course draw profiles with less points.

With an intersection of top view and side view I tried to bring a rail of the maximum width to the right height.

And yes, in the top view the canvas was a bit rotated.

I added one more intersection rail "3D(1)" to turn the serpentine line into a smooth line.
The more rails the better.
