Solid Sweep question

Hi all!

I try around with Solid Sweep. What I want is sweeping a body along a path, but the body should remain in the same alignment as it was at the start:

In my opinion it must work if I set Solid Sweep to Parallel, but I get an error then:

So here are my questions:

Do I need to change any settings, or is Solid Sweep not working properly?

I don't think you understand how Solid Sweep works...You will have to use Sweep-->Single Path and create a profile to make the center "cover"

Not possible. Rules is rules. Sweep will not allow your profile to become tangent to the path.

Are you sure you want what you are asking for.

Fusion will make it for you, but Sweep is the wrong horse.

How is it impossible??....I just created a similar piece to his, with the sweep tool in the video I posted above.

But can you create (exactly) what he asked for with any parallel Sweep?

Hi! It should work. It looks like a limitation or a bug in Solid Sweep. Here is a hack I found that might be close to the solution. Instead of a cylinder, I use a sphere to sweep along the arc path. Then create another Solid Sweep using the swept body along a vertical path.

Not even close to a work around. Both of your Sweeps are Perpendicular!

The original question, for a Parallel body Sweep, is not a bug, it is an impossible limitation. (Infinity comes to mind)

Apart from self-intersecting, (probably not the right word) the body must change from curved wall to vertical wall, at 90 degrees of the path direction (and back again).

Simple demo - Sweep a circle profile along the total path, (Parallel to 90 degrees) is not possible either, 0.999.... is possible and 1.0 is not.

Sweeping this original cylinder body has the same problem at both ends.

What would you be doing with the leading portion?

Loft can do it, but Sweep cannot.
