I like to use the "Animate Joint Relationships" feature to check whether what I designed is moving the way it should. However in a situation where I animate a revolute joint everything works fine but for the sense of rotation, it rotates in one direction but for this machine to be correct it must rotate in the other. What decides in which direction it goes?

Fusion will rotate normally Clockwise for the component picked first in the placing of the Joint. If you want to reverse it, this Blog Article and Video will show you how.
