We have a customer step file that we want to keep the AnyCAD link to so that any changes will flow through into our CAM in the future.

We need to add fixturing holes to the customer file, and need to use the modified file in multiple files.

The work flow we came up with was as follows:

Customer step file -> x-ref -> Fusion 360 file -> derive -> Modified Fusion File -> x-ref -> CAM file

If the step file is updated then the Fusion 360 files shows that it does not have the latest version and updates as you would expect.

The problem comes in the Modified Fusion File. The file shows that the component is our of date, updating the component leaves Fusion thinking that it has the latest version but it still shows the old version of the Fusion 360 file.

Is this a bug?

Is there another way to achieve the desired outcome?

Am I missing something?

Thanks.
