When you import a sheet metal component from another CAD package into Fusion, the characteristics of the sheet metal component cannot be edited as can be done with native Fusion created sheet metal components.

There's no assistance for this, it is a limitation of the Fusion software itself. The OP desires this functionality be added to future versions of Fusion.

I would like the ability to switch to a different sheet metal rule after converting a customer-supplied model to a sheet metal component. The material thickness, inside radii, and bend deduction / k-factor need to match what's in the compensation table for my press brake programming software — if they don't, the flat pattern sent to the laser will be the wrong size and the programmed punch depth will be incorrect.

I would also appreciate the ability to use bend deductions instead of k-factors in the sheet metal rule, since converting from bend deduction to k-factor is an unnecessary step most of the time.

I currently maintain a sheet metal rule for every combination of material, thickness, punch radius, and die opening.

Hi Lauri,

My current understanding is that this is a limitation of the software. A user has to manually re-create the customer supplied model to match existing sheet metal rules. My general work flow is to adjust the radii, create an offset surface, thicken the offset surface, and then convert to a sheet metal component. This process is time consuming if you have to process any more than a few components. I wish it required less manual intervention.
