Hi,

I have many thousands of .prt files (and also many thousands of .ckd files) and no way to access them. I thought that Fusion could open a .prt and so far every time I try to upload one it just creates an errReport.pdf that says " Content of the file is corrupted or invalid". Is there something I am doing wrong?

I realize Fusion does not support the .ckd files so I am not sure what I am going to do there but shouldn't I be able to view and use .prt?

Example file attached.

Someone else on another of the Fusion forums has a similar issue with some .prt files. I found that his file could be opened in CAD Exchanger software and exported as STEP (in addition to other formats). His .prt files seem to come from NX but your example file has a different header and couldn't be opened with the CAD Exchanger program. I have managed to open it in SolidWorks though.

There are no solid bodies in this file (according to SW) but there are a couple of sketches, and it might have ignored stuff it didn't understand. Did this file originate in SW or some other CAD software?

All my files originated in CadKey or Key Creator.

I don't know if the are sketches only in this example file. It could be. And maybe that is why Fusion won't open it?

Ok, that confirms what I found when I did some research. If you no longer have access to CadKey or Key Creator you might be able to find a converter online, or if you have access to SolidWorks, that seems to support opening both these file types. I'm off to bed now (it's 01:40 here now!) so I won't be able to answer for a few hours.

Hi! I tried opening the prt file on viewer.autodesk.com. It seems incomplete. There are missing reference files. Are you able to open it elsewhere?

Many thanks!
