I'm not sure if you're still hunting for an answer, but incase anyone else sees this post;

You can simply copy the cells from excel and past them directly onto your drawing and it will auto populate a fusion table for you. Unfortunately it still ends up being a fusion table but at least you can interact with it via excel as i also find fusions table function lackluster.
The other option would be to screenshot it and import the photo which i might prefer honestly

Is there a planned adoption for importing excel tables into Fusion 360 drawings? Or, is there a way to already do this?

There's no a way import Excel table directly, but there's an app in Fusion AppStore, called Parameter.

https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=1801418194626000805&appLang=en&os=Win64&autostart=true&_ga=1.220931608.1645705186.1463071850

That only works in the modelling environment. I am looking to import an Excel table into the drawing environment so it can be used as a parts list as I find the built-in table function useless
