increase outer dimension of model without distorting the dimensions. currently machined the form in an Electrode burned on the punch face with .0035 orbit. the edges on the model are the finished punch dimension, and the orbit left a small flat on the outer edge. I am looking to increase the edge on the model out .015 per side

the attached files will show, the outer edge is all radiuses and will not allow for a pull to extend like others I have done.

any help would be appreciated

I don't know if i'm understanding your goal, but... How about adding thickness to the outer walls?

Really all you need to do is use offset in the surface workspace to create a copy of the outer faces then thicken.

Then just combine with the original body. This gives the flat around the outer edge where you orbited the electrode. See attached file.

Note the model @CCarreiras shared does not have this flat.

Thank You, your Idea along with his gave me what I needed. the angle of the insert needs to extend outward for the Orbit and not leave a flat on the part. cutting the shape -.004 and orbit .003 gives me what I need. but if the angle doesn't extend beyond it leaves a flat on the edge of the part

@jlarkin wrote:

If you're orbiting and electrode with a sharp edge it will leave a flat though. Actually it will leave a flat twice the orbit. What I didn't think about before is the inner shape will also be reduced by the orbit as well so the outside of the shape moves out 0.0035 but the inner part of the rake will move in 0.0035 so you'd get a 0.007 flat. Wouldn't you also need to add a spark gap to this as well?

Think about it as the electrode orbits any thing forming an edge inside or out will be offset by the orbit.

Really you need to use something like sweep to sweep the body around a circle 0.007 diameter. I did try this but Fusion fails. Probably the part is too complex.
