I am a newbie, and I am trying to join these 2 DXF files to create one solid. Itried to join but I cannot align them so I can extrude into one solid curve part. Any help would be appreciated. I have attached the 2 files. Thanks.

Hi! I took a quick look at the two dxf files. Each contains a closed loop profile. I think you would like to use the smaller profile to sweep along a path in the bigger profile. The geometry is relatively simple. I suggest you measure the geometry and recreate it using sketch commands. Then constrain and dimension properly. It might be quicker than relocating the sketch geometry.

Here is a solution by create a boundary patch from the smaller profile (see attached f3d file). Then relocate it to the bigger profile. As you can see, there are quite a few steps to make it happen. I would simply recreate it at the start of the path.

Many thanks!

Hi,

Another way might be to create a third sketch that you intend on being the extrusion profile and

then Project only the geometry you need to create the enclosed shape. Then use THAT sketch to

do the extrusion.

Cheers

Andrew
