Configured Design -> Right and Left Configuration -> How can I mirrow without copying the bodie

Hello everyone

I'm looking for the possibility to mirror a body without it being copied to create a Right and Left Configuration in a Configured Design.

What I would like to achieve is to only create one program for the right part in the CAM and then select the Configuration Left for processing the left part.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

can you clarify what you want here? Right now, your "Right" and ":eft" configurations are very different. "Right" is:

But, "Left" looks like this:

Did you mean to combine the results in the Body Mirror?

Or, did you want a second body? If so, use "New Body"

However, your comments about CAM make me think that you really want these to be components not bodies. If these really are identical geometry (which I inferred from just wanting one toolpath), then Mirror is not the right approach. You probably just want one component with the geometry in it, and when assembled, use Joints to get the rotated orientation. Mirror is for creating non-identical geometry (a true mirror), which is why the copy happens.

I'm not even sure you need configurations for this at all...

No, I don't need a second body, I just want the body to be mirrored and look like that

The body should not be copied, but only mirrored so that only the right part has to be programmed in the CAM and the left part can then be generated automatically.

This is especially important in the automotive and vehicle industries, as many left and right parts are manufactured on a vehicle.

mirror doesn't translate the originating body. just creates a new body that is a mirror. you have to then remove the original-

If only a copy of the active body can be created during mirroring, a CAM program must be created again for the left part because all features reference the right part.

But because of the great implementation of Configured Design and the Roadmap of Fusion 360, I'm confident that it's only a matter of time before the missing solution is implemented.

if you just want to create your tool paths once, and then mirror those tool paths with out having to re-create anything, you can just mirror the tool paths. no need for mirroring the body.

I think, the Mirror Pattern is created to mirror a toolpath instance in the same part.

When a toolpath instance is not mirrored in the same part, no material is removed in the simulation.

Mirroring a body without a copy remains the easiest, fastest and most flexible solution to manufacturing mirror parts.

Since mirroring a body without a copy is also an important feature in Configured Designs, I believe it is only a matter of time before this feature is implemented.

you can see the tool paths are being defined right? you can't see any "virtual stock" being removed because you haven't defined any over there-

that's done in the setup-

if you just really need to see the stock removal, you could define your own stock-

then the simulation looks like this-

I got a valuable tip in the forum, how mirroring (without copy) of a component -> Mirror Component with Scale

Now it works.
