create drawing of single components

lets say I have designed a drawer , as in the picture posted ... is there a way of "blowing up" the drawer into the separate boards on a 2d drawing , rather than having the 2d drawing of the assembled drawer?

When wood working, it is best to have the SIMPLEST form of plans so that you definitely dont make cutting errors - it would be best if you would have a 2d drawing of for example "right side" and its dimensions, another (on the same page) "bottom" and its dimensions ecc ...

is there a way to do this other than doing a separate 2d drawing for each component ?

You may want to take a look at Fusion 360's R.U.L.E #1

To create drawings of individual "parts" these need to be components. You can convert bodies into components and for woodworking, it often makes sense to create many pieces of geometry from a single "skeleton" sketch.

So the "create component first" described in the first section of rule #1 might not be the best. Pick one of the alternative workflows I list in the rule. I often mix these approaches as needs arise.

Cheers , the above drawer was designed with RULE 1 in mind and if you see the browser in the picture , all sides of the drawer have their own component ...

what I want to do is sort of take each side(component) and create a 2d drawing of that side individually not as a whole drawer , all on the same 2d drawing sheet

You did not supply your model so I used one of mine. The process is the same to create a single sheet drawing and place views of multiple components on it. Take a look at the Screencast.

When working with wood (the cutting phase) , I like having each board drawn out SEPARATE from the whole assembly as it makes it less likely that you make a mistake and use a wrong dimension ... cheers your solution worked perfectly

is it possible to use this method with a personal(free) licence? when I try it just creates a read-only blank form (I have only 3 designs marked as editable, so 7 available) then basically hangs. I can't even close the drawing windew, but can close the app.

Yes, you can place multiple components views on the same 2D Drawing sheet. You cannot create a multi-sheet 2D Drawing using a Fusion Personal License. Why you system has problems with it I cannot tell. You can attach your model and I will give it a try on my license.

The drawing opens with a blank page, but then nothing else is possible, not even closing it down. Its interesting to note that this window is read-only.

You either must be using a Fusion Personal License, which does not allow the sharing of files, or forgot to click the "Share" icon because the file cannot be downloaded from your link. Please attach it using the method described below. I am real interested to try it out.

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it. If needed, ZIP a F3Z file.

Thanks John. I think you've answered my question. The problem must be that I'm on personal license. I have found I can con a kind of drawing by creating a sketch and dimensioning that, then capture an image from that. It serves the purpose I needed to make a drawing for. I just don't know why Fusion doesn't simply say "you can't do that" rather than entering a semi-working state.
