Does anyone know if there is a list of the icons used in the browser to indicate the type of item? I have just imported a step file and the browser contains a few details I cannot find a reference to. The symbols are like a sheet metal part but in red.

Also the bodies seem to be contained in two separate levels. What is that about?

See the two screenshots.

Any assistance appreciated.

Those symbols indicate if the body is a Solid (#1) or a Surface (#2).

Surface Body = Outer skin that represent the shape of the model (i.e. no thickness).

I only see the Unstitched folder appear with imported files. Can't find it referenced in the product documentation (https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=GUID-1C665B4D-7BF7-4FDF-98B0-AA7EE12B5AC2), but I'm assuming they're grouped as unstitched/disconnected based on how Fusion translates the geometry on import (small gaps, spaces, etc...).

Thanks for that. I am trying to split the design in the center longitudinally, but split is not working on many parts, so your explanation makes sense. Do you know if a surface can be changed to a body?

This model is imported from a Solidworks step export. So I dont know why fusion should consider parts as surfaces.

Thanks.

Most surfaces are not joined together in a watertight manner.

So you cant stitch them.
