Can we please have the option to remove Configurations from the main toolbar and just have it under Modify. This and the Automate menus mean I'm losing 5 or 6 useful icons for menu icons I'll never or rarely use. I get AutoDesk want to put new features in a prominent place but give us the ability to hide them if they're not needed.

Hey Fusion 360 Team and community! First off, big props to the team for always pushing Fusion 360 forward. It's cool to see the software grow and evolve. I'm copying my response from my post about configurable threads below.

Threads, as I'm sure you're aware, play a pivotal role in mechanical design, acting as one of the fundamental connectors and fasteners in many designs. Given their significance, the ability to configure various aspects of threads in Fusion 360 should be, in my opinion, one of the primary features.

I truly believe that implementing this feature from the beginning would have made Fusion 360 even more valuable to the mechanical design community. Nevertheless, I appreciate that it's on your radar now, and I hope to see this feature integrated soon.

Thank you for always being receptive to user feedback and striving to improve the software continuously. I look forward to future updates and enhancements.

I'd be happy to hear more about configured models compatibility for personal license users.

I'm talking about future ability to open one's own models after subscription expiration.

How's the experience been so far? Anything you wish you had to support your workflow?

Is configurations out for everybody yet? I'm aware that it's supposed to be rolled out, but according to the video from the official Autodesk Fusion youtube channel, it's supposed to have rolled out to everybody 2 weeks ago already. I have the paid non-educational, latest update version of Fusion360 and I still don't see the configuration panel in the design workspace. Is it something to be activated?

The new configuration feature is awsome. I'm curious if it would be possible to add a "custom" configuration option. This way, when adding components to an assembly, users could specify parameter values themselves, rather than choosing from a predefined list. In many cases, this would be more convenient than breaking links, finding required parameter and adjusting it within the "Change Parameter" window.

This workflow is particularly suitable for demanding parts that are manufactured in multiple clamping operations.

This means that the correct raw and finished part can be supplied for every clamping for different applications:
- NC programming

- Clamping device construction
- Machine manufacturer
- Tool suppliers
- Measuring machine
- Drawing creation for the workshop

Hi @Christoph_360 -- It would be interesting to see the Manufacture side of this. How are you planning to utilize the various configurations to set up your manufacturing setups and operations?

You should see it now if you are on a commercial license. If not, you might still be using a Single User Storage hub. Configurations has to be used in a Team hub. Here's an article with more info.

@karol thanks for posting this!

Custom configurations is something we've already heard a few requests for, so I'm glad to see you're interested in this as well.

I'm curious, what types of aspects would you hope to define as custom? Parameters, materials, appearances, other aspects?

Would you want to define valid ranges and options, something more freeform, both?

We'd love to see or hear about an example, if you have one you can share or describe.

I still need some time for the MillTurn part, because I still have to learn how to turn in Fusion.

But I did it on a milled part, the connections are similar to the MillTurn part.

The milled part is machined in 4 clamping sessions.

In the CAD Finished Part i have created the Configurations for 4 Clampings

In addition, I have defined the two configurations Small and Broad in the CAM.

Since nested configurations cannot yet be exported, the attached files refer only to the Configuration Small.

One thing that we are planning to support is configuring within the Manufacture space. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on what would be useful along those lines.

In the mirror command, there should be the possibility to convert a right part to a left part by means of a mirror.

Now a copy is always created when mirroring and thus the possibility to convert a right part to a left part is missing, so that all subsequent features remain referenced.

Based on the roadmap, I believe this and other workflows will continue to be supported.

However, since the roadmap is not described in detail enough, I will mention a point.

Tolerance modelling would be very helpful in the manufacturing process, at the moment I solve it in configured design with parameters.

I see. That clears things up. I wasn't aware of the Team Hubs in F360 until now.

Are there talks of including configurations in single user storage hubs in the future? I can only make one team and I'd like to have configurations for all my designs, including personal ones, in the future.

Also, I've noticed that I can only transfer files from my single user hub to my team hub if they don't reference other files. (i.e. I'm not able to transfer drawing or assembly files). Enabling configurations for single user storage hubs would save me a lot of time and headache. Otherwise I'd have to reassemble sometimes large assembly files and recreate drawing files if I want them to be configurable.

Single User Storage is legacy functionality and you should not be using it at this point.
