Another problem/challenge with holes.

What I think I did:

1) imported the 1 mm extrude of a snowflake design (from tinkercad).

2) hand-drew the star around the outside as a sketch.

3) extruded the star.

Anything else you see in the timeline is wasted energy/learning curve, etc.

Because the bits of the snowflake don't actually connect, I can't just print that. So I was going to deboss/engrave the snowflake into the star base.

2 problems:

1) because of the order I did things in, the snowflake is 231 bodies, hanging under the project. I created a Component, but now I can't figure out how to "move" the bodies to under the component.

2) I tried to group the bodies, and/or make a sub-assembly, so that I could deal with them as 1 unit (what I think would have happened if I had put them under the Component), and I think I succeeded, but I don't know how to reference or manage it. The end result I want is 231 holes that look like the snowflake.

f3d is attached.

Thanks

Design Concept Problem

Newbie here, quite addicted. Started with Tinkercad and now trying to learn Fusion.

I have a conceptual question. The tools are the next step, but I can't even get past the design concept.

If I wanted to make an "ice cream cone", the concept is to merge a cone and a sphere. I also understand (mostly) the use of holes.

What I'd like to do is take a random line drawing, and "fill it in", not unlike the use of the "paint bucket" tool in Photoshop.

So I have a line drawing, like this:

I want to make a "base plate" for something else to sit on. Conceptually, I think an "extrude" function might work if one could constrain it to stay inside the lines. I could also approximate it with enough cylinders and cubes.

In the "sketch" tool in Tinkercad, I just successfully filled in a shape.

Is there a similar tool in Fusion?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

This is what solid extrusion is for.

It requires that the contour be closed to produce an extrudable profile (blue color).

Thank you. I knew it would be embarrassingly easy. I have used the extrude tool, but not the right parameters. Danke!
