I know someone will tell me how easy it is to create this but I literally have brain block and can not figure out how to create the chamfered locking holes on these mod vises. Can someone help me with a quick vid? I attached a Fusion file of the vise and a pic of what I am looking to do.

Hi

First method

Offset workplane

Sketch

Revolve (cut mode)

Second method:

Sketch (top face) -> Circle

Extrude with Taper option (cut mode)

I would love to but unfortunately, I was born very dyslexic and I get brain block. I have had to teach myself Fusion and I think I do fair for having zero help I just need a push every now and then. If you knew the $$$$ I spent on milling tools you would laugh at me. I have invested a lot of money in software and machinery as I am really enjoying this, but I get frustrated with having to look through so many videos and spend too much time on stuff like this. I tried both options that were mentioned above and for some reason I cannot get them to work. Fusion can be frustrating sometimes.

Thank you Mr kacper.suchomski!!

I just figured it out with the extrude. Still lost on the revolve as I created an offset plane, then I created a line from the top circle to bottom of the projected slot on the angle, and I tried to revolve as a single path then a guide and then I made a surface but just could not get it. I did an extrude but I was not extruding the entire slot, and I should have been. Sorry about that but you did point me where I needed to be. I just don't use extrude with a tapper enough to drive it into my brain:) Thank you again.

Thank you for your time on this TheCADWhisperer. I am always ready to start on anything that I can learn more about.

I need to learn to explain things better. My boss hates it and I am to old to change now:) I have been wanting to build these Low Profile vises for a while and I imported a STEP file into fusion I found. I needed to make changes to the width etc. but that was proving to be very difficult for me from that file so I created a sketch of that block and then projected the lines on that sketch. I then copied and pasted that sketch into a new drawing so (in my mind) it would be easier to change all the dimensions I needed to change. I really don't know where that .003" came from as it was 4". Learning how to change the step file alone is an entire different conversation. This was why you see all the fillets plus I did not dimension everything (still no excuse). I do wish I was a bit more proficient with CAD drawing but it is tough to learn on your own for sure especially trying to learn CAD & CAM at the same time. Lots of guys out there that would love to try and teach me for $1-200hr but again I am a little harder to teach and not sure it would be money well spent for me.
