Trying to get McMaster Carr Joints For Hinge Working?!

Hi All!

I feel like I'm so close but I can't get the last pin in this hinge to actually have two points which it needs to lock to:

I'm following this tutorial and trying to get my hinge moving - The front part moves as expected but the last piece of the puzzle is this piece that then needs to be associated with the pin and cylinder/move. I try to assign the joint but it ends up rotating the main rear hinge body which should be fixed in position... I'd love some advice to get around the quirk! I was also wondering how people are then routing out the body to position the recessed hinge in place in the right geometric shape? Looks like you have the first joint on Body 15, connected to the wrong leg of body 2. That would not work.

As for Q2, the portion of circular face plate is a nice round pocket, 11mm deep, (base of body 1 will sit on the floor.)

however, there is still some interference with these 2 sets of fillets, but easy to create that clearance with manual tools.

I can't help you on Joints, but the hinges are designed to fit a simple 35mm Diameter hole (12-13mm deep, I recall). The hole's location is determined (via a table) by the door thickness, gap etc.

I picked the McMaster-Carr part number off of your shared file and downloaded it. First thing to do is select all the bodies of the hinge and right click and select Create Components from Bodies. Then it is pretty ease from there to create a Rigid Group off all components that do not need to move and use As-Built Joints on those that do. Assembly is attached.

You are using Cylindrical Joints, harder to set up.

First look, these two components are not centered, cylindrical?

Only needs a Revolve on each end of Component 8 and 17.

Rigid Group the door parts, (2), and the Cabinet side (the rest)

Pin or Ground the Cabinet side, (one of the components)

I used As Built to keep the supplied alignments. (Easier by far)

What joint type should I be using there please?

The hard one is the piece that doesn't have a flat top. It seems to skew
the joint?

Go back in time, to where the hinge arrives in file. I moved all the bodies to line up with the Origin in a useful spot, cabinet front mounting hole.

Follow my listing to make it a moving hinge.

Joint the hinge origin, (rigid) to File Origin. Off set the Joint to place the hinge inside the cabinet, my offsets were 795, 503, 28 and adjustable, but these numbers only work on my origin position.

This is a set of cabinets for home.. alas I'm trying to make a cut list of all the pieces of mdf for the local shop to cut them out for me but the personal licence doesn't allow me to.. Any chance someone could export a cut list of all the pieces of mdf for me including 3 x the doors on the front?

Sorry to ask but I thought it might be worth a shot. I wanted to DIY them to save some cash

Not counting the imported hinges, you only have 2 components in the file.

I am not aware of the BOM process, other than to say it will only consider Components in the calculation,

Basic License will produce a BOM, but your file is not set up for it.
