Hi, thank you so much! Could you please detail how exactly you achieved this or link to a resource that can help me understand this better? Also, the motion is opposite to what it should be, the top face should move downward, not upward. I tried to make it move downward but since I'm a novice at this, I wasn't able to figure it out.

Thanks,

Sanjay

Hi, I have designed a rack and pinion system to be used in my assembly and am trying to move the pinion to the end of the rack. I have included an attachment to both the rack and pinion design file and my final assembly, to help you understand what I am trying to do. Also, I am not able to achieve the right motion of the rack and pinion - the rack is supposed to allow the top face along with the tube (neck) to move up and down vertically (ie only Z-axis dof) while the pinion stays revolving in its place. However, when I try to create a motion link, the rack moves in more than one axis.

Attached you will find your assembly with the Rack and Pinon configured with a Joint. Fusion Joint animation is too fast by default. If you want to slow it down, run the following text command "Fusion.jointanimationtime 20" (without the quotes). Compare the two animated GIFs. You have a little color in your timeline that needs attention.

If this answers your question, please select the "Accept Solution" on my post. If you need further help, please ask.

I added a video of my process. I do not know what you mean by the motion being opposite, it moves either way now.
