Hi! Here is a 5-minute attempt by using an Offset surface and an Extrusion cut.

I was playing with a project that I already printed; trying to recreate a part.

I'm sure I did quite a few mistakes along the way, but there's something I can't seem to find a solution:

What would be the best method to create that shape?

I did try creating sketches at an angle, even trying to 3d the shape; but I had no luck. The same with loft or even trying to shell it.

Maybe with the surface tab?

Conceptual only! Follow the timeline. I made another sketch and used some surfaces to create a body to "combine/cut" from the original body. I also tried "extrude" from object but was too impatient to get the offset the thickness of the part along the extrusion vector. So that might work if you can get the proper offset.

Nice. 7.5mm? I tried my build a body cut with that offset and it looks similar. It never crossed my mind to just offset a surface and extrude to that. Seems way too easy.

Hi! The essence of Reverse Engineering isn't so much about matching the geometry exactly. It is more about capturing the design intent and using the comparable workflows in the chosen CAD tool to reproduce the geometry.

Many thanks!
