It seems to work pretty well with Drive Joint and Animate Model. Yes, there is a bit of a hitch here:

But, really, it is not too bad, IMO. I am not sure whether this hitch is caused because the tangent relationship is really plane-on-plane at this point, or, because it also happens to be where the contact set is engaged, and contact sets are very compute intensive.

I have no idea if the title is grammatical.

I was watching some tutorial videos. I'm not sure if the advise there is in fact correct. In this example for a lobe and cam. The requirement is for several objectives. Spring position in reticule tension. Where the rest position in the sim is used for volume. And the component will try to stick to that point of tensors. Another part is the tangent relationship of two parts. And an extra contact set requirement for the limited tangent relationship that's already presented. It appears to conflict with the mechanism.

one thing i discovered the tutorial is confusing about construction

the mechanism requires that in only drives in one direction at all times

It's also very sticky on mouse dragging.

Any input will be appreciated. I don't necessarily got a problem with this. It just takes a lot of time to concentrate most of the program time like this.

I'm not sure if the tutor knows how cams fire.

<STRIKE>I have to create my own file. Because the original tutor file is a mess.</STRIKE>

@jeff_strater The reason there is a hitch is intentional. This hitch is happening because the Tangent Relationship for that cam pieces goes all the way around. It's tagged to the side face. It's flat all around. But, the Tangent Face on the lobe only provides contact to the cam about 99 percent through that turn. That's why that face has a single side fillet. Once it goes outside of that designated fillet zone it slips out. And also the reason the mechanism only works in one direction. You can try to reverse the Clockwise Chainstey Joint. But, you'll find it almost impossible. It's a as-built joint. I have a lot of trouble making Joints and snapping them in the place for some reason.

Component Drag is a slightly different operation than either Drive Joint or Animate Model. Sometimes, in order to try to get "preferred" behavior during component drag, additional, hidden constraints are applied to the model, which can result in different behaviors than Drive or Animate. I would not recommend using component drag, in general.

Oh yeah. I know that. I don't push that button too often. It's just for the feature tests. Just to make sure all the aspects of the program are correct. I played a lot of building games. They start to get very dirty and disorganized. This is much better. I'm not trying to bloat out this topic at all. But, I mentioned before I use a steering column it this sample for driving. This basically gets rid of the requirement to ground any of the components. It's like a home made assistant.

<video-js data-video-id="6338955102112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)
