To diagnose the issue we will need a copy of the installation log (found at ~/Library/Logs/autodesk.webdeploy.streamer.log), the installation database (~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/meta/registry), and a list of the contents of the Fusion installation folder. Issue the following command in a terminal:

ls -lR ~/Library/Application\ Support/Autodesk/webdeploy > ~/Desktop/FusionFiles.txt

The list will then be available on your desktop as "Fusionfiles.txt"

Zip them up and attach them to your reply.

Thank you for providing the requested files. Unfortunately the error, at least superficially, seems to indicate a missing file issue, but according to the install directory file list, the file is present and should be accessible. Another possibility is that through some strange accident, you have received the incorrect version of the main application file. To check this please issue the terminal command:

$ shasum "/Users/dgd/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/e65096bbec3d87d91777dfcbc35093d1fb80d087/Autodesk Fusion 360.app/Contents/MacOS/Autodesk Fusion 360"

And ensure that the output is

0eb99db5706599a4570626090e6c4f81db4b7af8 /Users/dgd/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/e65096bbec3d87d91777dfcbc35093d1fb80d087/Autodesk Fusion 360.app/Contents/MacOS/Autodesk Fusion 360

If that matches, bypass the Dock and Launchpad by opening the application directly and determine if you still see the error.

Hello,

Sorry for the delayed response. I have run out of ideas for identifying the cause of this problem, and I was checking for other potential avenues of investigation.

Since this appears to be at least your second installation of Fusion, I am assuming it has worked in the past, so I am going to ask you to reset and try the installation again. Firstly, uninstall fusion using the "Remove Autodesk Fusion 360" entry in your Launchpad. Next, to make certain we are clean, manually delete the following folders from your account if they exist:

~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/common/
~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/
~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Neutron/
~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Neutron Platform/
~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Synergy/
~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/web services/
~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/

Finally, install again using the Fusion 360 Download page. (<- this is a link, not sure why the style sheet here doesn't make that more obvious)

No problem I appreciate the help. I have never had Fusion working and have been getting these errors since the first attempt to install. I will try your suggestions and let you know what happens.

So, I think I know the answer, but I must ask to eliminate possibilities. Are you using a macbook with a 64-bit processor? (Not that I think they were using 32-bit processors when this one was made...)

Grasping at straws I unstalled everything, repaired disk persmissions and reinstalled and got the same error.

Bummer.

Would it be possible for you to package up the contents of your ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/ folder to see if what the installer is putting on your machine runs on some of ours? Do not use zip as that may lose some critical information. Use tar.gz if you know how, or put it all in to a dmg (one place for instructions: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-DMG-File-on-a-Mac)

Also, that will likely be too large to post to the forum so I will be inviting you to a shared folder that you can upload to...

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the tarfile.... I did manage to uncompress it and get the program you provided to me to lauch. That said, I did have to make one set of changes to the files to make it less specific to your system. So, maybe we can start by making the same changes on your system, and see if they help.

Attached is a file that should make your copy look more like mine. To use it, download it and issue the command:

$ sh ~/Downloads/relo.txt

Run it... if that doesn't help one more diagnostic would be to try would be this command:

$ chmod -R a+rwx ~/Library/Application\ Support/Autodesk/webdeploy

Then, again, launch the application.

If neither of these help, you have mentioned trying on another system you have access to. Have you been able to try that? How does it differ from this system. Might you also be able to try from another (new) user account on this same machine and report what that does.

OK,

I did finally notice a case sensitivity discrepancy. Unfortunately, we do not support or test against case-insensitive file systems, and this is the second issue related to the configuration that has been encountered. To receive support, I will have to ask you to transition to a case-insensitive HFS+ file system.

If this is not an option, it may be possible to get Fusion running by re-partitioning a portion of your drive to be case-insensitive and then establishing a symbolic link from "~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk" to a folder on that partition. However, to be clear, this is just a crazy idea I just thought of, and this configuration can not be fully supported should you continue to have problems.
