I've created a simple revolute joint and it animates as it should. But, I can't "click and drag" to make it move as the tutorial video's state.

What's the secret????

thanks,

Hello,

Apologies for the inconvience, to get things working correctly for this tutorial what you can do is disable contact sets prior to the move. See the image below on how to turn off contact sets.

We have plans to get this fix in one of the upcoming updates to resolve any further issues.

Cheers,

Unfortunately, I don't have any contact sets. I was having no luck with a design I had already started so I thought I'd take a step back.

I started a new design. I created a disk and then a small rectangle.

I created a revolute joint so that the rectangle revolved around the center of the disk.

That simple - and it doesn't work.

I've attached my test file.

?? David

Hi David,

I am not sure how this happened, but somehow your component drag got turned off.

Enabling this option allows you to drag the component. If you ground the disk and then click and drag the rectangle you can get it to operate like I think you want it to.

Cheers,

Joel, whatever happened to AS IS Joints (I think that's what it was called).

I remember seeing a video that referred to this. If you had components that were already properly placed,

you could joint in it's current position.

How can that be accomplished now? thanks, David

Hi David,

You should be able to find this command under the assemble tab.

Something you can also do when looking for commands or additional information on how to use them is leverage our search for help from the help menu.

What this will do is open up our learning content in a browser and start the search for you for the information you entered into the field.

Hope this helps,

Hi David,

It looks like you are in Direct modeling or a base feature. The option for an As-Built joint is something specific to parametric modeling.

Right now the only way to gain access to this feature is through a parametric model.

Cheers,
