Hi,

I'm testing Autodesk 360 to create G code files for my new CNC router. The machine is not listed in the selection. Can I create a file for a Weihong NC300 series controlled machine out of China? NC Studio is the software.

Hi there -

We don't have a specific post processor for this machine. However, the Fanuc post processor should be close.

If you create your G-Code using that post, and then point out to us where things are incorrect, our post team can help to put an appropriate one together for you.

Please work through cam.posts@autodesk.com

Best Regards,

Hello

With the help of a CNC operator down the road I'm getting closer.

He saved my Autodesk360 Fanuc file as .TXT on PC (not my mac). Then copied and renamed as .NC which is the native file type of NC Studio. The machine will load this but gives invalid G code warning.

The difference appears to be subtle differences in spaces and breaks. He suggested I send you one of the preinstalled test files for you to compare and hopefully create a converter for.

I have attched a lovely Bhudda file that the machine cuts very well. I have alot of Bhuddas now!

P.S. He also says my first attempt at creating a tool path file with your software looks fine. Happy with that and if I can do this on my mac you will have one very happy customer. Will certainly be purchsing license if I can get this conversion issue ironed out.

I have attached a sample file here which came preinstalled on machine from China as a test. And a second which is the Fanuc format chosen from the drop down menu in autodesk360. Then saved with .NC added. Was advised by forum that this should be close.

It appears to be close to my novice eyes!

This is a bit tricky currently. It involves copying the file into the installation area. The Mac makes this especially difficult, and there are 2 different sets of instructions, depending on whether you're using the AppStore installation, or the one installed from autodesk.com.

First, put the file in your home directory, or some other location where you can find it -- you may need to repeat the below again if an update is pushed.

On the Mac -- for an autodesk.com installation -- the installation area is as follows:

 ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/<someGuid>

"<someGuid>" will change for each major update. The most recent update uses a Guid starting with "6fcf".

The CAM post processors are stored a few directories down, so, the directory for the post processors is:

 ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/<someGuid>/Libraries/Applications/CAM360/Data/Posts

The easiest way to get here is to just type the text before the "<someGuid>" into the "Go to folder" dialog in the Finder, and then navigate down from there.

Once you get to the Posts folder, you can COPY your .cps file into that folder.

After restarting Fusion, it should show up in the Post Process dialog.

I'll post an update with install locations for other versions (Windows, Mac App Store) separately.
