Main menu bar disappeared

I opened up Fusion last night to do a bit of work, but the entire main menu at the top of the application is missing, as is the file manager window to access the files in the cloud. I have not been able to figure out how to bring those things back. I removed and reinstalled the software, but the result is still the same. I can't even say for sure if I'm logged in or not, as thats not showing either. I've tried all the "F" keys and all the ctrl-"key" combinations, with only a couple responding at all, but not to help this situation. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Can you try using the keyboard shortcut for Reset to Defaul Layout?

To Reset the default layout view, use one of the following keystrokes:
Mac OS:

ALT+Command+R
Windows:

CTRL+ALT+R

I had a very similar issue the other day. I restarted the program and it seemed to fix itself.

While it wasn't really an issue, it really hurts confidence in the software. Especially when all your work is in the cloud.

I have the same problem after allowing fusion to automatically upgrade. I tried ctrl-alt-r and it doesn't work. It just launches the HP recovery program. Any other suggestions? Thx.

Can you access the command from the file menu? See the below image for details...

Note There is a "carrot" on the right hand side of the toolbar that can hide this menu.

I recall that I had a conflict with another application in the past. Whenever that application was running, CTRL + ALT + R performed a command in that application and it would not work in Fusion 360. To get the keyboard shortcut to work, I usually had to kill that application in the system tray. If you end the HP recovery program/process and re-test, does the behavior change?

I solved the problem by shutting down and restarting the computer and restarting fusion 360.

Thanks much for the suggestion. Unfortunately no "carrot" was in the upper
right corner (or any for that matter). Shutting down the computer and
restarting did the trick however.

This just happened to me ... fortunately CTRL-ALT-R brought it back, but not without restarting a couple times, and then spending 30 minutes looking for a solution (first search of "menu disappeared" returned nothing, then when posting in the forum it showed 5 possible duplicate posts ... I read through 4 of them before I found this one that applied to me).

Thank heavens it worked but I totally agree with the other sentiments on this matter ... While you are attempting to patch this issue, can you add "reset main menu" to the workspace view menu in the upper right of the workspace (already has "reset front", "reset Home" options there) and have it simply do the CTRL-Alt-R for us? That will save us a ton of anxiety and frustration.

I’ve same problem. After instaling updates I lost my menu bar, Alt+Ctrl+R, restart Windows and Fusion did not works.

I've had this problem for a while now and it just keeps getting on my nerve. In the picture I circled the top bar where it is cut in half. It is just annoying to see. I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem.

Sorry to hear about this. This is a different issue than reported originally I believe.

Can you test the following procedure?

Close Fusion 360
Browse to

Mac OS:
Macintosh HD > Users > *** > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Neutron Platform > Options > *** > NULastDisplayedLayout.xml
Windows:
C:\Users\***\AppData\ROAMING\Autodesk\Nuetron Platform\Options\***\NULastDisplayLayout.xml

Delete or rename the NULastDisplayedLayout.xml file.

Note: You may also consider doing this for the ToolbarCustomization.xml file as well.

Restart Fusion 360 and retest.

If that doesn't help, please see the below link for further suggestions. Mostly likely a clean uninstall and re-install will help to resolve the issue.

I'm fresh off of a teamviewer session with another person and I believe I have a solution to this issue.

Steps to resolve:

1. Open Fusion 360 and leave it open in the background
2. Open the below file with wordpad or an XML editor:

Windows:
C:/Users/***/AppData/Roaming/Autodesk/Neutron Platform/Options/***/NGlobalOptions.xml
Hint: How to enable hidden files and folders on Windows

MacOS:
Macintosh HD > Users > *** > chandln > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Neutron Platform > Options > *** > NGlobalOptions.xml
Hint: How to Access Hidden User Library folder on Mac OS

3. Search for the string <WantToShowToolbar in the XML file

4. Edit the following line in the XML file in Wordpad or an XML editor:

<WantToShowToolbar ToolTip="Should the toolbar be shown" UserName="Show Toolbar" Value="0"/>

change the value at the end to:

<WantToShowToolbar ToolTip="Should the toolbar be shown" UserName="Show Toolbar" Value="1"/>

4. Save the XML file and close it

5. Give it a few minutes and then close Fusion 360 (This should sync the NGlobalOptions.xml to the cloud)

Upon restarting Fusion 360, the main menu should be there and it should stay there.

I'm tracking down the root cause and permanent fix for this solution. However, these steps should be able to get the main menu back.

I had this same issue yesterday, restarted the computer this morning and I still can't get the Menu Bar to show up. Tried CTRL+ALT+R and that added a bar underneath the untitled tab but its empty.

Followed your instructions and opened up this file "C:\Users\Grant\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Neutron Platform\Options\6VL5QCC2AH2E\NGlobalOptions.xml" Could not find "<WantToShowToolbar" by searching or looking

Can I past this into the code? If so where in the file?

Yesterday I did a remote desktop session and it was there. Just to test, I deleted the GlobalOptions.xml file and restarted Fusion 360 and the option set itself back to zero.

This leads me to believe that I may have not been able to get that option to sync or may be missing a piece of the puzzle.

To remedy this, I had to add a few steps to my above suggestion to restore the default preferences, which I documented in the below solution article.

Today, I'm looking in my XML file and having the same issue. I can't find that line either!

One solution I'm curious to see if it works:

1. Show the text command window ALT + Command + C (Mac OS) .. or .. CTRL + ALT + C (Windows)

2. Select the TXT button on the right side of the command prompt (it wouldn't work with PY or JS selected)

3. Type the command

options.reset

4. Press Enter

Does the toolbar show up after running that command?

I tried all of the above and still cannot get the top Title bar with File, Edit, Window, Help as shown on the YouTube tutorial 15 seconds into the link below

I tried another install on a separate Win10 3.3Ghz 4GB Ram i3 64 bit PC.

I got exactly the same problem on that PC so I am deducing that the issue lies in the download files.

I attach a screenshot.

I will wait for an answer and solution to this before I waste any more time on it.

I hope that you can resolve this as the software looks great, but the setup is not what is expected of Autodesk.

Hi All,

I'm having the exact same issues with 2 PC's running Windows in that on initial launch and login of Fusion the top menu bar is invisible (I can hover the mouse over where the icons should be and a descriptor is displayed), however if I keep logged in but shut down and restart Fusion all is then OK - this has happened every time now for about the last 3 weeks or so - this does appear to be a common problem so has a permanent fix been found yet?
