Help with design for battery pole hole in lid

Hi everyone.

I am new to fusion 360 and CAD. I have completed a parametric box with lid and need help designing a hole for the battery pole. Attached is the picture of the object that I need the hole for. It is a mix of a circle and two flat sides. The circle measures 32.004mm and the distance between the 2 flat sides is 28mm.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Hi mufuo.

That is a really great design and I really appreciate it. But what I need is the hole for that for a box lid.

How are you measuring a plastic part to 3 decimal places? What measuring instrument are you using?

In any case,

you should always Attach the *.f3d file of your attempt here (see the Attached file of my attempt).

Where are the dimensions for your Sketch8 in the file that you Attached.

If I drag the geometry it goes anywhere?

Since you are new to Fusion - would you like to learn how to do this correctly step-by-step?

All the dimensions are in parameters. Yes. I am loving being able to design my own parts and want to learn as much as I can.

@jeff_strater - when you open the first sketch in the design posted above by the OP, the lines show as all black, and there is a fully constrained symbol on the sketch. if you try to drag something you can see it clearly is not fully constrained. any thoughts on why?

Start a new part file.

Create your named Parameters.

Create a Center Point Rectangle as shown below...

It is usually best to make use of existing symmetry about the Origin.

This will pay dividends later on...

Attach your new file here for next set of steps.

Here is my basic lid template with the extrusions. The two extrusions are the ones that I need to learn how to apply the correct format.

Sketch 2 has the lid.

Sketch 3 has the circles

I do not recall posting any instruction steps about creating any Extrusions?

My method is to progress one step at a time and I have not given next set of steps?

You will never see any undefined blue geometry in my sketches.

@TheCADWhisperer I think I did it!!! I followed the sketch from your file in order to create the one on my lid and then negative extruded the profiles. See the new file.

Fully define your sketches.

Blue lines and white dots should keep you awake at night.

Examine the Attached file...

Edit: See if you can figure out how to edit to change the flats on the hole to the other sides.

And the correct width...

I definitely agree that you should have fully defined sketches.

Not doing so can create so much pain somewhere down the line and it's good to get into the right habits.

This would even apply to construction geometry.
