SVG Import to Material Blank

Trying to import an svg into Fusion for CNC carving.

I create an extruded shape (my wood) and then import the svg and place it on the horizontal surface. After scaling and positioning, it looks good, as in attached image.

If I select the bottom section and extrude it negatively as a recess (it's supposed to be a nut/candy dish), then click OK, only the bottom section remains. Everything else disappears. I can't find a way to select multiple faces--bottom, middle, and head/hat--to recess all at once. I can't do anything with the line segments that make up the section (bowl) divider arcs. Thought about trying to extrude them up and leave the bowls recessed, but no luck with that either.

Second issue is that the head/hat section seems to be "at one" with the surface of the board. Guessing that's an issue with the svg itself. Attached that also in case someone has an idea on how to fix that.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Please attach your MODEL you show in the PNG. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm looking for! Did you design that in F360?

I thought I had the basics down, but I can't even figure where to start with that!

Attached is a video showing my process. Sizes can be varied by scaling the SVG during insert.

Thanks so much! I see what you are doing and I get it, except after the first extrusion, when I click on the sketch, it is not coming to the surface as in your video. The sketch stays on the bottom of the extrusion, and I can't manipulate it from there. Any clues?

When I extrude the first sketch, you will notice the Extrude dialog has a Distance entry. I entered a negative value to make the extrusion go down, away from the snowman sketch. Actually I am dragging the extrusion arrow down which enters a negative number for me. This keeps the sketch on top of my model for easy viewing. It really does not matter, depends on your process.

Please attach your model, at the step you are describing, so I can see what you mean. A short video will help also showing you issue.

By the way, I want to bring something to your attention. When responding to a post from someone, do not use the "Post Reply" icon as this will address your post to yourself. Instead use the "Reply" icon on the post you are responding to address your post to that person. Look back at the messages in this post and you will see what I mean.

Thanks again so much! After watching the video closely a few more times, I found a step I missed. I can now do the same thing and get the same results as you. I'm happy with that!

The only difference is that you were able to select multiple faces to extrude, and I have to do them one at a time. No problem for this project, but something with 10 or 15 faces that needed extruding could prove tedious. Is there a shortcut to multiple select? I tried holding down the shift key and holding down the control key, even the right mouse button, but could still only get one at a time...

You do not need to use the Ctrl or Shift key to select multiple profiles. Use the left mouse button to select or deselect multiple profiles. You can also use a Window selection method as shown in the video to select a number of profiles at once.
