Preview mesh weirdness

Hello, in a test model I did of a guitar, everything looks cool, but only the preview mesh when exporting as stl is really strange, is this normal ? I didn't see any error in the model just to be sure all is ok here 🙂 thanks

That's totally weird. Does it output a correct STL model?

Hi Luke, well it seems to do a good model, only a little sagged on some faces, so I prefer step format, but indeed I found this weird 😕 I didn't see any error (yellow and red) in the timeline so I wonder if I did something wrong ?

Fusion team is probably going to want you *.f3d file, might be good to post it up. 🙂

we have seen this kind of thing before. Usually it is not reproducible on all machines, and most of the time, it just goes away on its own. We have not yet found the cause. The STL model is OK in every case we have seen so far. Let us know if you find otherwise.

Actually the step file imported displays very nicely, but the stl file imported back into F360 doesn't look good at all 😕

I think the STL is OK. What you are seeing there is weirdness with the mesh shading - by default, Fusion does "smooth shading" of meshes. It would look different (hopefully better) with "flat shading". We are adding an enhancement to allow you to control this in the upcoming release (next weekend, if all goes well!)

it seems OK. I think this is just a preview bug. Wish we could reproduce it, so we could fix it. We will eventually. But, your model is fine (nice guitar model, BTW!).

Here is what I see in STL preview:

And, if I load the STL into Cura or Meshmixer, it looks fine:

I've always wanted to try to design a guitar body, and send it to a Shopbot for manufacture. If only I had a Shopbot, of course...

Hey thank you for checking Jeff, strange it displays ok there, anyway good to see it's ok. Thank on the guitar model, this is an existing one I tried to reproduce, but it's really fun to do this in Fusion 360, it's easy and the options are great. thanks

I get this error several times on both of my PC - computers (as Jeff says "here is a similar thread: 3d-print-preview-mesh-bug") but the is newer problems in the real STL-file, it's ok.

Maybe it's PC related, I also use a PC here ... ?
