Did not find answer in search...

Downloaded Fusion 360. Tried to import/upload DXF file exported from Signlab 8 sign making software. It has options of DXF line, polyarc, polyline or spline for export selections. Tried DXF line and get error in Fusion. It will not let me attach file in this post either...says "attachment's plate.dxf content type (text/plain) does not match its file extension and has been removed."

Trying to import DXF, possibly revise things in 2d, then render for presentation and export finished DXF for laser cutters or machines to cut the part.

Also, getting message that software does not like my integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 card. Driver is current in my i5 processor, 12mb ram computer.

Thank you...David

To attach dxf files here - first

right click on the file name and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Then attach the resulting *.zip file.

I did not have any trouble opening the dxf - I will create a Screencast video later.

Not sure what to do about your graphics card problem - seems a I have heard that before, so a search should probably turn up previous discussions.

A couple of things I would do on your end -

export as something other than lines as your arcs are converted to linear segments.

For a symmetrical object I would work such that the origin 0,0,0 is in the middle of my symmetry.

For something this simple - I would probably just model in Fusion from the start.

Hmm...so did you open file or import or upload? Did you use the DXF or the ZIP file? Yes, video would be great. Should I export as DXFpolyline or DXFpolyarc from Signlab? Can I now edit that 2d drawing in Fusion, ad dimensions and model it with the holes and cut outs?

Thank you,

David

Hi David, welcome to Fusion. I, too, was able to do an upload from the data panel and your DXF file opened in Fusion just fine. You may have experienced some backend server issues we were having yesterday that may have caused the problem you experienced. A quick note that we are working on an insert DXF file from your desktop files directly into a sketch in Fusion, so you shouldn't have to go through the upload process in the near future.

let us know if you are still running into challenges with your DXF file.

Here is how I got the dxf into Fusion.

Turn on your sound.
