topic Construction Plane – Changing Axis in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

Hi guys!

I recently started using Fusion 360 – it's amazing, intuitive and super easy to use. However, I ran into an issue I can't solve on my own for a few days.

Let's say, I want to create a lofted shape, that follows arc path. See this screenshot for prepared sketches and construction planes. I created two sketches with circles on the same starting plane so that their center points match.

Now I want to move the sketch with bigger circle to the new construction plane created with "Plane Along Path" function. So I choose the "BIGGER CIRCLE" sketch and try to redefine its sketch plane. But I end up with something like this:

After some digging, I found out that axis on the plane placed along path are rotated (see the green goes to left instead of up):

So my question is – can you somehow reset axis on the new construction plane to match global origin axis? That way, my circle would just move to another plane and I could create a beautiful loft 🙂

Thank you for all findings.

Regards,

Radek

Why not use the endpoints of your path to project into the profile sketches? You could then use a coincident constraint to locate the profiles perfectly with the path sketch. Note that in the below video, I have re-organized the Timeline so that the path and plane on path are created before my profile sketches.

Please review the below Screencast video and let me know if it helps, or if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Thank you, Nate! This was great. I somehow didn't know about the features in the right panel 🙂
