That Open CL support from Apple may take a while. I've recently come across an article in a German computer magazine that Ive read and subscribetd to for 20+ years c't Magazin fuer Computertechnik. For obvous reason I cannot post the text of the original articel but I can poist my own translation of it:

3D Professionals complain about Apple

In an open letter to Tim Cook 3D-Developer Paolo Ciccone has criticised the quality of the graphics drivers in OS-X and gained the applause of prominent 3D-Pros. Ciccone operates his own 3D-Software company and also helps with development on the open source software LuxRender. He complains that defective Open-CL drivers abort rendering of scenes on OS-X, which work without problems on other Systems. The problem is said to be so bad that Jens Verwiebe, the main developer for the OS-X platform has given up. Ciccone asks other Apple users to contact Tim Cook as well.

Here's a link to the aritcle in German. It's further down on the page.

This is the second article in c't in the last few months that mentiones substandard quality of Apple's graphics drivers, the other article complaining about the lacking 32 bit color support. Let's hope they don't forget their professional customers. I had seriously considered a mac pro, but will hold off on unitil reports are ein.

Here is a link to a thread on Blendernation:
http://www.blendernation.com/2015/05/04/an-open-letter-to-tim-cook/

It would be interesting so hear whether the Thea developers have experienced similar problems. I hope to give Thea a spin this weekend.

The one thing we would need from the Fusion 360 tream is decent UV mapping support.
