Design sharing problem

I'm trying to share a design with a collaborator. I'm mostly interested in their being able to view the file, to see how is should work. I get a link, and paste it into a browser, but what turns up is an empty page with a box that says "list view" and a check mark. That box contains some file names. I can't seem to view it in A360 either. All the support bits (icons at the bottom) are there, just no design in the viewer.

Which web browser are you testing with? Could you test with another web browser? Hopefully, this has resolved itself, but let us know either way!

Hi Nathan,

I've tried with Safari and Chrome on Mac OS, and my collaborator has been unable to view under Windows- not sure what browser. I should have mentioned I was on the beta for A360- not sure if that is relevant.

Hi Nathan,

I tried rolling back out of the A360 beta, and it has not helped.

I see exactly the same sort of thing in all recent designs, except for single imported components that don’t reference any others. It is the same in multiple browsers and platforms, and the same opening through A360 or using the link generated by Fusion.

1) The date showing as last updated does not match the actual date of the design's latest version.

2) I can see old thumbnails and out of date renderings, but can’t view the design. Downloading files is possible.

3) The viewer opens and is active, but the window is blank.

4) Others receiving the link don’t see the design either.

I have many electronic components imported from manufacturer’s websites, those seem to display perfectly in the viewer. But my own designs do not. Older designs (from as best as I can tell before updating to theF360 Beta, but I can’t say for sure), including those that have referenced components, do display, but the version numbers are still out of date with the “last updated” date. For recent designs I just see a blank screen in the viewer.

I have tried breaking links so there are no referenced designs, then saving a new copy, but A360 still does not appear able to generate a view- though I do then get current renders, I can’t see anything in the viewer.

This is actually somewhat critical for me, as I need to be able to share design details and use the viewer to communicate with subcontractors and our customer. So if there are any suggestions as to how I might try getting to a shared viewer, I would appreciate it.

I have been having other problems with my Fusion install related to materials, I may try completely removing and re-installing Fusion.

Hi Ron,

Thank you for the email. After investigating the issue, we have a workaround. Also, we will work to resolve the problem found that caused this issue. First here's the work around.

Open the Wrist Test Fixture (version 44)
Delete the unresolvedCompoent:3
Save a new version.
Then viewable should appear properly now,

Next, the problem was that somehow we have an unresolved reference component in this design. Typically,we try to to ensure that there are no unresolved components in the Fusion design. In this instance, you should not be able to have an unresolved reference or create a case where there is an unresolved reference. We did try to reproduce the workflow that you have experienced and were unsuccessful. Do you remember the workflow that you executed prior to this issue that may have caused an unresolved reference? Any information you may be able to provide would be great.

Lisa,

I can confirm that deleting the unresolved component fixes the issue and I can now use the sharing functions. I will check the other designs- quite a few show this same issue.

The common workflow features I can identify with all the designs that show these problems- an error message regarding missing components, and an inability to share through Fusion or A360- are these:

1) I imported a number of CAD files for electronic components. These came from various sources, mostly the manufacturer's websites (Samtec), from Digi-Key, and some from 3D Content Central.

2) I in some cases imported into the root component and moved the imported component to another, in other cases I imported into an active component.

3) In some cases I moved the imported component from one component to another, or into a sub-component or group.

4) In some cases I used these components in patterns.

5) All of these designs were done mostly or exclusively in Direct Modeling, and involved a lot of moving these components around for both positioning and organization.
