Hi Brian,

So close....

The large number of errors has been reduced to only one. I assume you still have a copy of my project. When I do a Get Latest on the frame the only error now is in the joint Motion Third Wheel to Center Wheel. It says there is a joint conflict, as before. I've edited (reselected the components) in both related joints and it doesn't fix the problem. I'm curious as to why you don't see the error when you apply the latest fix to the copy of the project I gave you.

UPDATE!!!

I just closed the project and re-opened it. BEFORE doing a Get Latest I ran my Motion Study, just to see if it would work, and it did. THEN I did the Get Latest and it worked without reporting any errors! Everything looks fine now except that the Snapshot immediately before the joint Motion Third Wheel to Center Wheel is hilighted in yellow.

This strange behavior probably means that something is still not quite right in Fusion, but at least I can continue my project.

Thanks,

Ken

Hi All,

I just made a small change to the front frame of this clock (in a linked file) and when I returned to this assembly I did a "Get Latest". The change I made did not effect any of the reference points I'm using for joints. I'm now getting a slew of errors for every joint on the frame. The red circles to the left of the clock are drawn by Fusion, apparently letting me know where it's looking for the references. The last time the frame was in that location was weeks ago and I've certainly done a "Get Latest" numerous times since then without any errors.

Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Thanks,

Ken

there could be several explanations for what you are seeing with the joint failures:

Those failures were "latent" in your design even before the update to the latest versions. That is, had you done a Compute All, even without getting the latest from the referenced components, those errors would have occurred. In theory, this should not happen, but I have seen cases where it does happen.

The update actually did affect geometry that those joints relied on. Sometimes, changes that you don't expect to affect geometry can have an effect. You can test this by doing "Choose Version" on the referenced components, and choosing the older version. This will put the design back into the state before the "Get Latest". Or, you can promote an older version of the top-level design, if you haven't made lots of other changes that you want to keep.

If you would be willing to share your design, someone would be happy to take a look at those failures, and help to figure out what was the cause.

Sometimes failures like this are easy to fix - just edit the joint and re-select the missing geometry. Have you tried to fix them?

Hi Jeff,

It doesn't appear that those failures were latent. I just opened the design and rather than do a 'Get Latest' I did a 'Compute All' and no errors were found.

Yes, I have tried editing the joint, but the behavior is bizarre. I pick the first component but when I pick the second it un-picks the first.

I would be happy to share the project with someone at Autodesk, just tell me how to proceed.

Thanks,

Ken

Thanks, Ken,

Yes, we'd be interested to take a look at your model. To share it, there are just a couple simple steps:

1. in the data panel, right click on the item and choose "share public link":

2. in the dialog that comes up, choose "Share the latest version.." and "allow download":

Then, copy the link and either post it here (if you are OK with other folks seeing it), or send it in a private message to myself on this forum.

Thanks!

Thanks, Ken,

I was able to download the design and upload it into my account. We will keep your data confidential. We will only use this to debug your problem. But, by uploading it to my area we can save versions of it without writing to your design.

I was able to verify the problem, and I agree - this seems wrong. We will investigate it further. It does seem related to the Get Latest.

Everything looks fine now except that the Snapshot immediately before the joint Motion Third Wheel to Center Wheel is hilighted in yellow.

This strange behavior probably means that something is still not quite right in Fusion, but at least I can continue my project.

Thanks,

Ken
