Dimensioning tangent to wrong side

Is there a way to change which side of a circle to dimension from? It seems to only want to pick the far side, which I pretty much never want. ☹️

Please tell me I don't have to make construction geometry crutches.

Are you talking about tangent linear dimension in the sketch environment? I ask because the image shows a radius dimension. If you are, indeed talking about linear tangent dimensions, it should use the closest point to the selection point. See the video. If this is not what you are asking about, please clarify. Thanks.

So it turns out if you include the circular edge before dimensioning it does pick the close side of the arc. Seems a tiny bit lame but it's better than helper geometry.

Yes, I meant a linear dimension while sketching. I hadn't clicked the line yet, which is why it was still showing a radius. It behaves differently depending on whether the edge has been included into the sketch or not, before dimensioning.

I tried a simple case, and even with projected geometry, it seemed to work OK for me

thanks for the model and the video. Super helpful. Easy to reproduce the behavior from those. This is clearly a bug - it should work as you expect. I created bug FUS-145037 for this. Thanks for reporting it.
