replace component

I have an assembly I'm adding components to. I have one part that needs an offset to use in 2 places. I created the new component joined it in place and realized the offset needs to be diferent on the second component, so I copied and "paste new" a version I can change that's not lined to the first but I don't see the replace component command. was it removed? or can it not be used in the timeline? Do I need to save it outside and use replace to put it in?

The Replace Component command is only available on Externally Linked components.

Okay, from your experience then, what could possibly be the advantage of not having this feature?

If Fusion 360 is more geared towards a top-down design approach then not having this feature seems to work against that.

Where did I say it is advantageous NOT to have that feature?

If you understand how top-down design in Fusion works, where it is so easy to have disjoint timelines and references multiple components, replacing a component is technically possible!

To replace a component, it has to be entirely independent of any other elements in a design. In that case, it is better to design it as a separate, external component.
