Hi emvioeng,

By default, the ASME template uses Third Projection Angle and ISO uses First Projection Angle. This can be changed before creating a drawing.

To do this, go to Preferences > General > Drawing. If your Standard is set to 'Inherit from Design', change that to ASME/ISO. This will display Projection Angle as an additional option. By checking 'Override or Restore Defaults Below', this value can be modified.

Please let us know if this addresses your question.

Thanks.

Krithika

The projection is the same, regardless of selecting, ISO, ASME or override and picking First or Third from the dropdown menu. If it used to work, it seems it has stopped working (or has a very long response time). Or am I doing something wrong?

Hi,

Welcome to Fusion Forum and thanks for posting your question.

The projection angle has to be set before creating the drawing. Once the drawing has been created it is not possible to change the projection angle in between the creation of drawing.

Even if you change the angle in between, this changes will be applied only to new drawing (please note: not new sheet).

EDIT: Nevermind. I had it backwards.

Even with a new drawing from design, after setting my ISO settings to 1st angle, the drawing is still in 3rd. What info do you need to help troubleshoot? Thanks!

Hi, This solution only applies to new drawings "from scratch" but i have a custom company drawing template i setup to use for our drawings, unfortunatly this template was setup with defualt ISO standards and first angle however we want to use third angle projection and i cannot seem to change this on the existing template, is this possible?

i want to avoid having to start from scratch as the custom title block took a while to setup with the linked attributes, i tried just copying my custom title block to a new drawing setup with third angle but this wouldnt work, is this not possible either? i used to use Inventor and this would of been no problem there, why is it so limited on fusion?

If you use the ISO Standard in the creation of any new 2D Drawing, it will be "by standard" first angle projection. If you want third angle projection, select ASME as the Standard. You can still select any Units you desired. Once a 2D Drawing is created, the projection angle cannot be changed.

So the answer to your question is the Drafting Standards determine the projection type and you cannot change that fact.

As I said, ISO and ASME are both standards each associated to a particular drawing projection angle, this rule should not be violated. If you want to change your drawings to a different projection angle per Standard, which is not advised, you can do this by adding a check mark, as indicated, and then change whatever you desire.
