When building Patent Drawings, we need to create drawings for the USPTO that comply with their standards. The current Drawing solution does not allow for "A" size format that can be in a verticle format -vs- landscape. And we do not need the boarder. Can we add, "no boarder" so we can mark it up. Would be super cool to put the drawing solution into a patent mode. Patent drawings for the most part use a straight or curved line to call out features. It also uses a 12 point Times Roman text to call out points. The drop down needs to have an option to remove the border.

We need to have call out lines that can be used to point to various features to comply with the USPTO rules. Super fine line weight.

Need to change font sizes and underline for each Figure call out. would be awesome to put the drawing into a Patent mode where all these things are easily modified.

And we definatly need exploded drawing views.

Hi Pat,

Thanks so much for the details, these will definately help us in our efforts to support the creation of patent drawings. And I do have a some good news, some of your requests are already in progress. For the November release we are adding the ability to create exploded (and shaded) drawing views. And early next year, we are hoping to add patent styled balloons which include curved leaders, and better text formatting capabilites. As for your no border request, I've added it to our roadmap.

Regarding your question about vertical A size sheets, this should already be possible. Since the units of your design is millimeters, the Standard used by new drawings will default to ISO. As a result, you get ISO's A4, A3, A2, etc. sheet sizes. If you want to keep millimeter units in the design and drawing, within the NEW DRAWING FROM DESIGN dialog, change the Standard from ISO to ASME (1). This will switch the sheet sizes from ISO to ASME and keep the millimeter units. From there, you should be able to select "A (8.5in x 11in)" within the Sheet Size dropdown (2). Then click OK to create the drawing. The drawing should be using a vertical A sheet size.

Quick question, do you use any other sheet size in the vertical\portrait orientation?

Hope this help and thanks for reaching out to us.

Thanks,
