Thanks! I think I was just trying to load the F3Z file back into Fusion incorrectly. Now that that's taken care of I don't seem to see any issues opening the design. Thanks!

Sorry for the non-descript title; what seems to be the issue is that when trying to load an instance of an assembly I've been working on only 1 machine seems able to do so. All attempts to open (both on the App and on F360 on another computer) fail. In the instance of the app; the app force closes without warning and is unable to load any aspect of the file/assembly. In the case of the computer I receive the following message:

"The file you are trying to open is currently being saved by User [my name]. Do you want to open a previous version instead?"

If I click no, F360 stops responding and shuts down.

I appear to have no problem opening the file on one particular machine, however I've noticed 2 things on that machine. 1) I am unable to update to the latest fusion360--emailed the stream.log to Autodesk; and 2) I am unable to cloud render the file as the render states something along the lines of "There is an issue with the file."

So how do I remedy this? Any thoughts? Anything that can be done on the Server side to remedy/fix? Thoughts?

Edit: Trying to select "Yes" to open a previous version creates an error of unknown exception. Saving an iteration on the machine that is able to load it, then closing fusion down on that particular machine, followed by attempting to open said version results in the error already described. Attempting to open or promote the previous version of the file results in an error as well.

The file name is "Electronics Case Assembly Compenent Integration." V11 is the latest and greatest (V12 was just a troubleshooting version with no changes associated with it)--I should probably fix the spelling in that file name too at some point.

The machine that is stuck trying to upload the new version.

If you work offline, can you open the newer version that is trying to sync?

If so, please test opening it from the data panel, saving a new version, close the design, then go back online. After some time (5-10 minutes), refresh the data panel and see if the version is updated.

I was able to load the file, work off-line, and then upload the new file. I still have the same issue: I am unable to open it on my other machine.

I have fixed the file name to: Electronics Case Assembly Component Integration

I have opened and closed it on the machine that can do so.

And I have attached the diagnostic log file below.

Hopefully this can be an easy fix.

Re: File will not load on one machine

You can export a local archive file to create a locally stored version for safe keeping, see the below link for more info.

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-make-a-local-archive-back-up-file-in-Fusion-360.html

If you have access to the file and the version that would like to keep, you may consider clearing your local cache. There's a command called clear user cached data in the help drop down menu. This will remove all files that are stored locally, reset options back to default, and you will be required to sign in again.

I suspect this may help with the failure to upload message. However, I don't think it will help with the open issue. I suspect that it may be related to the update issue. I just learned that there is a known issue with the last automatic update. The best recourse is to perform a clean uninstall and re-install in this case.

Clean Uninstall directions:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-of-Autodesk-Fusion-360.html

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

I am however unable to open the file on both machines and on the app now after the clean reinstall. What I've noticed from the archived versions is the offending file never made it into the f3z but is still xref'd by the file.

When attempting to open the offending file I get the same error as before. I'm sure with some more digging I might be able to even further resolve the issue.

However is there a work around? Perhaps editing some file in the f3z to ignore or omit the call to the offending file? I see 3 instances in one of the json files. If I delete those calls will the rest of the model load?

The offending file name is: Key Lock Switch

@innovatenate

I don't think I will be able to email the file as it's 17megs. I can add you to the project though if that will get you what you need? Or is there another process (FTP?) to get it to you?

As a supplemental information: I have been able to roll back to an earlier version of the "Key Lock Switch" file and am able to open it now. I am not able to open the "Component Integration" file. For whatever reason it might be it is still hung up on the old version of the "Key Lock Switch". I have attempted to pull the "Key Lock Switch" into the archive and renaming it to the missing component/hex-name. I received an error on it and generated a CER when Fusion threw up a little bit.

I attempted to roll back to an earlier version of the "Component Integration" file but have had no luck. It iterates to another version but still throws out the "Still being saved by another user" error.

I have attempted to edit the Description.JSON file with little success (removed the block referencing "Key Lock Switch" and the associated Hex-Name). I guess it's more closely related to the .F3D file of the assembly than to the .JSON file...
