For user interface problems that are hard to describe the Screencast tool offer the best solution. It is a free download from Autodesk and integrates nicely with Fusion 360.

You can record your screen - including sound and keyboar events is so desired - right from Fusion. After the recording is done it can be uploaded to your Fuson 360 account by simply clicking a button.

You'll receive an email when its ready for veiwing, including a link to the video that you can copy from the email and paste into a post here on the forum.

I am a 360 newbie and trying to practice and learn. Sorry if this is a total dumb newbie question!

I am currently trying a build shown in part one of a demo video by Sachlene Singh, for a cork screw -- "Cork Screw Pt1, building the housing". Watching her constructing the first sketch I notice that each line, fillet etc she applies is accompanied automatically by a relevant 'elastic' dimension, which persists until an actual amount is entered if necessary - all before item is final .

I don't get this the way hers works and have to go back and dimension after and seem to do way more entity editing than necessary... just not seeing the same dimension construction lines as hers while I work. Hope this explains it enough, and couldn't see any preference that I'd missed which could help. Thanks in advance - hoping there may be an easy answer! Chris

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the community and thanks for reaching out to us.

Do you mean the dimensioin was not added after you type a value? If it's the case, we need press "Tab" key or "Enter" key to lock the dimension we entered (we will see a lock icon next the vaule) then click to accept the position.

If it's not the case, could you add more information (screenshots, screencasts, etc.) for the problem you're facing? Here is a tool to record screencasts: http://screencast.autodesk.com/

Best Regards,

Yes, what Nicholas said. The general convention in Fusion is that when creating an object, a sketch line, using Move, press-pull, fillet, Chamfer, etc., the dimensions will pop up in editable boxes (outside the sketch environment these will be in dialog boxes as well). Use Tab to cycle between boxes, and press enter to lock in a dimension. It’s not required to lock in any dimension, you can add or edit dimensions later, as you have seen.

Thx very much for response (Iand the other folks too. The problem is hard to describe really well.

I have attached three grabs from the video that was done by Sachlene on the cork screw project - they are sequential. As she is sketching she is getting a full display of dimensions as she is operating and appears to be able to modify those figures on the fly until she settles on an end point position and then fixes them.

With my copying of same - I don't get that much dimensional display as I operate, in particular with something like an angle and by time I decide on and end point to fix a line for example, my options for changing a dimensions seem to disappear - thus I have had to go back the dimension tool and re-asign the value I want - fixing with 'enter' of course as usual. Hope this all makes sense a bit!

Someone mentioned about my graphics card operation - nothing appears wrong with that.

Soneone else also did make mention of this perhaps being something for fixing in next update.
