I have a a DXF and DWG from AutoCAD that I am trying to make a solid out of. I had to scan in the orignial part, vector trace with CorelDraw, and then make the changes with AutoCAD which worked really well for what it's worth. Now. I don't have much good to say about Fusion360. I have been using SolidWorks for a couple years and every time I try to use Fusion, it just seems too complicated and too messy. But I am trying to learn it.

I get the DXF or DWG into Fusion onto the grid. I cannot extrude anything but the 2 circles inside the main outline, the circles should be holes. I grouped the entire outline in AutoCAD, I redrew the outline so that it was surely 100% complete and closed. But I cannot manipulate it in Fusion, which seems ridiculous as they are AutoDesk programs and would assumingly mesh well. It says read only, etc. Each line was drawn by me, I only used the vector trace as my guide for the right hand side of the lever.

How do I get this to work? How do I get it to extrude this drawing?? I will be using my 3D printer to make this.

Thanks!

The profile is not closed, when a profile is closed it will shade like the circles. There's an app available here to find openings in sketches.

Something else that could be a problem is fusion can't work with some types of spline, I think AutoCAD has a tool to convert splines to arcs and lines, that might help. Any chance you could attach the DXF file it would make helping you a lot easier.

What app is used for that? I'm used to SolidWorks and they have a tool to find the openings and such in the program. Like I said, I'm pretty new to Fusion, but I've been using AutoCAD for years, just trying to figure out how the dynamics works from 2D to 3D.

I've attached the DXF. Thanks for the quick response!

The forum will not let me upload any more pictures today so I can only upload your file that I've fixed. I had to replace one spline and join 2 openings. The spline has tangent constrains added so you should see which one was the problem.

The problem is bad tangence between the profiles. I made a copy of your sketch and redrew some of the splines and added some tangence constraints and it will now fillet up to 1.45. I tried adding more constraints but they modified the shape too much. You might be better off importing the scan as a canvas and manually tracing in Fusion if you need it better.

Here's what it looks like after the modifications.
