This is a simplified example of the problem I encountered:

draw a simple sketch, a rectangle with a circle at the center;

stop sketch;

extrude the rectangle -- results in a plate with a hole in the center, as expected;

edit the profile sketch adding another circle;

stop sketch;

extrusion has only the first hole and not the second;

I would expect the extrusion to now have 2 holes corresponding to the circles in the profile sketch.

BobS

This is expected behavior. The Extrude feature only tracks what you select when you create it. It does not automatically pick up new geometry added to the sketch. You need to edit the Extrude and select the profile that you want to extrude.

No, I would not think automatically adding extrudes would be a good feature. It may help in this simmple case, but as you grow in your confidence your sketches will get more complicated.

Then the ability to control what you want extruded and what not to be underestimated.

Unless of course that automatic behavior can be turned off somewhere 😉

When you are editing an existing Sketch you are automatically jumping back in the timeline to the point where the sketch was first created.

Whatever you add to an existing Sketch is added to that point in the timeline when the sketch was created.

Correct. This allows you, vor example to create several bodies/components and combinations thereoff from the same sketch at different points in the timeline.

As a direct modeling software I guess this would make sense. However, I would still see the ease of use if the sketch was linked to the body extruded to it. As a student I've learned a few CAD packages and little details like this one makes it hard to flip between them.
