topic Creating Negative Image to Fit Parts Together in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

I have a LCD assembly which I made a DXF drawing of. I'm sure I've done a few miss steps along the way but I brought in the drawing, created a sketch and then proceeded to extrude parts of the LCD assembly to model the part. My end goal was to mount this LCD assembly in a 1/2" thick enclosure wall.

So I made a random piece in my drawing that was larger than the LCD assembly and then tried to use cut/joins to create a "negative" image of the LCD assembly. This ended up creating what I wanted (although I must admit I struggled a bit to do it!) and I used my CNC to make a test cut.

Things went well overall but I immediately realised when I went to fit the parts together that my machined part was not large enough to fit the LCD assembly. I had forgotten to add some clearance room (maybe 0.004" on each side) so I'm back to the drawing board and struggling on how to do what should be realatively easy.

I don't know if it's just this project but it seems that when I grab a face and try to push/pull the command changes to offset face?

Here's a link to my project, http://a360.co/20RLpVK

Thanks in advance,

George

If youselect push/pull and highlight all of the peripheral faces in that LCD pocket you will be able to offset all faces by the same distance at the same time. I am assuming htat's wha you want to do (?)

Yeah, I tried that right after I posted. Maybe I just never noticed that the pop up window changes to offset face and it threw me off so I canceled. I was able to select all 4 faces and offset by 0.004" and it worked. I'm off to the CNC to test it out.
