It sounds like the graphics cards may be switching. The below link contains a tip that can help you determine which graphics card is in use. Note that the limit all effects option in the graphics diagnostic dialog can help with performance and stability.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Poor-Performance-in-Fusion-360-on-laptops-with-dual-graphic-cards.html

Could you try to specifying that the higher performance graphics card runs Fusion 360 via the NIVIDA Control Panel (or similar ATI Catalyst center)? It might also help to modify the power options in the Windows operating system?

Could you share which graphics cards you are currently using? I may be able to dig up more specific instructions to help. Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

I am running Fusion 360 on a Dell XPS 15 i5 laptop with dual video cards. I have been using Fusion 360 for about 2 months now and have not had any resolution issues until recently. About 3 days ago when I ran Fusion 360 as I normally do I noticed a larger size images or lower resolution. I had not made any changes to my PC other than a recent Fusion 360 update. I rebooted and had same issue. I ran it using both video card options with the same issue. I downloaded the updated drivers for both video cards and had the same issue. I reverted back to my last approved Dell video drivers and I ran Fusion 360 and it ran for 5 minutes in the lower resolution and then screen flicker and it went back to the higher, proper resolution. I shut down and rebooted and it returned to the lower resolution. Based on my assessment it appears that there was a change that is having a negative impact on my resolution.

I downloaded Fusion 360 onto another Dell i7 laptop and had the same low resolution issue. What can I do to return Fusion 360 back to what I had previously.

My laptop has an Intel 4000 HD and NVIDIA GEForce GT 630M. I have run Fusion using both video cards and no change.

[GPU Information]
GPU Device: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M
GPU RAM: 1024 MB
GPU Driver API: DirectX 11.0
GPU Driver Version: 331.65
GPU Driver Date: 10/23/2013

[Graphics Effects Settings]
Anti Aliasing: On
Ambient Occlusion: On
Object Shadow: Off
Ground Shadow: On
Ground Reflection: Off
Selection Display Style: Simple
Transparency Effect: Better Performance

[Notes]
1. If you see any graphics display abnormalities, updating to the latest graphics card drivers could help resolve them; please check with your GPU vendors to download and install the latest graphics card drivers.

2. The effects could slow down the graphics rendering; try to limit them for optimum performance.

[Limit all effects to provide optimum performance]
Off

Did you get a chance to test with the option to Limit all effect to provide optimum performance in the Graphics diagnostics window?.

For the best performance, I would recommend using a newer driver from the NVidia website. A driver from 2013 is pretty old for CAD purposes. Generally, my rule of thumb is to update every 6 months or so. Updating the Intel driver directly from the Intel website can be a bit tricky, but is probably a good idea as well.

I hope this suggestion helps. Let us know if you have any questions.
