@Anonymous

I think it is hardware specific. On all of my test Macs, I get a range of ~40 seconds to nearly 2 minutes. The only difference being grade and age of the hardware.

It also helps to understand that Fusion is a fairly large and complex app compared to most of the apps you will ever run on your machine. It has to connect to the cloud, it's large in size, all of this adds up the start time.

Do you find it's faster if you start while in offline mode? That might help narrow down some portion of where your slowdown is.

To answer your question about the App folder: This is also due to the rather unique nature of Fusion 360 compared to all other Mac apps. In order to make it all work, we have to use the OS library. You can see more about it in the uninstall directions in the Read Me if you want to explore the folders and such. I don't recommend making any changes there, however. Many users break Fusion because they feel like moving folders, so it's not recommended.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Do you know why Fusion takes almost 2 minutes to start in mac? It starts opening at leat 3 different windows, until it stabilizes and open the workspace.

A question added to this too: why is there any Autodesk Fusion 360 Application folder on the applications library? (see attachment)

That may only apply to your mac 😉 It does not nearly take two minutes on my almost 6 year old iMac, but...

1. I upgradediti last summer to a 1TB SSD harddrive and that made a very substantial difference in the start of any application

2. I have a very fast Cable modem connectoin to the internet.

Both of these are factoring into how long it takes for Fusion 360 to open.

Still my question in not treated as needed. I am not satisfied with that reply. If I am writing here on the Fusion 360 blog, specially in this Answer Day, and i expect at least some consideration and consumer oriented point of view.

The specific application, which takes more time than other,s which opens in less than 5 seconds on my Macbook Pro 2015 is Fusion 360. That is WHY i am writing this, because for me is not normal. AutoCad, Maya, and every other Autodesk software that i run on the same computer take maximum 10 second to be ready for work, and I expect the same performace from Autodesk Fusion 360.Y ou want feedback, I give feedback as a user.

Fusion takes more time (double or 3 times) that the descripted above, with an unconsistent opening from separated windows, and is no matter of disc space and network connection. If the problem is because of the network conection, than, Fusion is having a bigger problem, because it should in the theory and in the praxis work on and offline as smooth as it can.

I hope I can recieve a better answer and better understanding what is going on on my topic after this reply

Hi Phil,

My hardware specifications are above the minimum requiered to run Fusion 360 and I did a test opening with and without internet conection and here are the results:

Offline Mode: 56 Seconds

Online Mode: 54 Seconds

Opening Autocad 2016 (which is also a monster software): 9 seconds

I hope this will be analyze in deep.

@Anonymous

I am sorry for the confusion, I think you may have misunderstand me. I meant only to start a discussion, not end one.

Currently:

This is the speed you can expect for Fusion start up. I'm sorry it's a bad experience for you.

In the future:

We are always looking for ways to improve performance, and also start up performance. We don't plan on stopping these improvements. Hopefully we can get down to 9 seconds some day.

Your feedback and comments are always welcome here. Please keep in mind that two things are going to happen when you post: someone like me is going to try to improve your performance with immediate steps you can take, and also we are going to log any bugs or improvements you show us. We are always listening and trying to help. I'm sorry that in this case I did not make it clear that your input is very valuable, so please accept my thanks for giving it.

Regards,
