splitting a sphere in half

Im new to fusion360 and Im trying to split a sphere. Ultimately I want it to be hollow with a wall thickness of .0625. How do I halve a sphere?

Draw a line in a sketch from the sphere centre point.

Shell the body with that wall thickness.

Split the Body with the line you drew.

Remove one half.

Can you elaborate on "draw a line from the center point"? I have placed the center point, but cant seem to get any further. Im new at this.. thx

If,

you have the sphere on the document origin, you may be able to use the document plane, of your choice, to Split the Body

Otherwise, you create a sketch, the line can be placed at any angle.
The split will be as you look at that line, one half on each side of the line.

Another way to split a sphere exactly in half is to use the Silhouette Split Command. The video will show this method. Model is attached so you can look at the timeline.

thank you very much for that tip! I cant seem to locate the pull down menu that appears on the left on your screen. Where I select halves? What am I missing?

Ok I was able to split the sphere. Now I need to make it have a .0625" wall and trim .125" off the bottom and add a small flange around the interior of the base of the hemisphere. Can you kindly tell me what tools to use?

I have attached a model of what you describe except for the flange. You asked for it to be on the "interior" of the base with makes no sense. Did you mean exterior?

The "flange" starts on the edge of the hemisphere and will go inwards towards the center. It should be about .75 inch wide and as thick as the hemisphere wall. In other words it is a circular "washer shaped" disc that fits the base of the hemisphere.

And the hemisphere should not have that flat spot at the top. Id also ask that the flange be .125 thick instead of .0625 which is the hemi wall thickness.

Before I misinterpret your design again, please attach a picture or hand sketch of what you "really" want. It is a waste of time to keep guessing using your description.

Easiest way to create a hemisphere with a bottom flange is to revolve it. Simply draw a circle, offset it, then add two lines for the flange:

Draw a sketch that is the same as Ed’s red sketch outline, with your dimensions.

Use the top vertical line as the centre line.

Use the revolve tool, select the profile, select the top vertical line, as centre line.

Press Ok.

Im trying to understand what your saying. Ive created the circle but when I pull down "modify" the revolve feature is not listed.

The Revolve command is a "Create" menu option in the Solid menu.
