"Legacy" Commercial subscriber, now an engineering student. Which account type?

I have been a commercial subscriber for as long as the "Legacy" category was created - that's when I decided it was worth it. I very rarely actually use Fusion 360, although at times I would use HSMWorks often.

I recently left the machining trade, and I am now a full-time engineering student. I would like to know what if any benefit there is to a commercial subscription to Fusion 360 (without any extensions) over a student subscription. Would I lose anything if I switched? Would I gain anything?

I still have about nine months left in my commercial "Legacy" subscription, so I have some time to figure this out. It's probably pretty easy to switch between accounts, too - especially with browser access! Is that included in student subscriptions?

A better question might be will you need a commercial version in the future? If you let the legacy version go you will lose the fixed price and the extensions you have with the legacy version. There might be some advantages to the educational version, not sure if you get access to all Fusion's extensions and addons but there's no reason you can't have an educational account and a legacy account and just sign into whichever one you want to use.

There are no extensions included with the Legacy subscription. Its only benefit over a new subscription is the price is lower and it will never change, SUPPOSEDLY.

I was hoping to have implied that I would probably come back to Fusion as a commercial subscriber at some point, but saving $1300-ish over the next four years or so would take some time to recoup, and that money would be more valuable when resources are lower, like now - especially considering that i can technically have the same access for free.

Assuming I am aware of the obvious, I am looking for hidden and/or not obvious, and second and third-order effects of keeping or leaving a Legacy subscription during a career transition when I have free access as a student.

Hi guys,

Feel free to ping me directly if you want to investigate the individual subscription. Just for clarity we have two different types of legacy Fusion entitlements. One is just "Fusion 360 - Legacy" (which is locked in at one price).

The other, which you have @HughesTooling is the "Fusion 360 - Early Adopter". Early Adopter was a very specific offerring from our early days, locked into the lowest price point possible and also comes with all of the extensions.

As he mentioned, you can validate the name of your subscription via manage.autodesk.com and going to the Subscriptions tab. Without knowing contract/subscription IDs its tough for me to say exactly what you have, just going off what I think is happening.

Not that I want to start another thread, but......what about if you're Legacy, and it says you have HSM Works Ultimate? I though I had access to all at one point and it went away.....

More than a little disappointed. I use mine mainly for 4th axis stuff on the lathe, but now when I need it--gotta pay. How is this not included in my original deal if it says I have HSMWorks Ultimate? I don't care about the other extensions, just manufacturing.

HELP, PLEASE!!!
